Creating Calm

DATE:

We are stressed – and with good reason. A global pandemic, a volatile political climate, job uncertainty, balancing work with family- are all major contributors to the current level of stress we are feeling.

Anxiety is Real

According to the Anxiety & Depression Association of America, anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year. Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, yet only 36.9% of those suffering receive treatment.

So, while these are numbers and those suffering should absolutely seek treatment, there are a lot of us that operate (and have been operating for years) with high levels of stress and anxiety that could be helped by creating some supportive environments.

What We Know

We spend most time at home and work, and we also know that how those spaces are designed can significantly minimize anxiety and, going one step further actually foster wellbeing. If you want to explore how changing the space can enhance your wellbeing, productivity and peace, here are just a few ways to get started.

Kill the Clutter

Clutter produces physical and unconscious chaos. There are many clutter experts that can take you through the process of decluttering. An expert of consultant can also plan systems and practices that will easily keep your home or office clutter free.

Rose Quartz interiors is happy to help with a home organizer or clutter professional if the thought of beginning to declutter stresses you out as much as the clutter!

Plants

A walk in the woods can be like medicine and an instant mood booster. Bring plants into your interior space, and you will reap some of the same benefits.

In addition to connecting you with nature, they also eliminate toxins from indoor spaces and re-oxygenate your home or office. Check out this recent study from NASA.

Embrace Color

Neutrals are amazing at creating a sense of peace and calm. But adding a colorful wall or piece of furniture, can be the right move to dial up the happy and exuberance.

Rose Quartz Interiors can help your color selections. The idea is to create the color palette that’s supports what your goals are for that space. Your color palette should be grounded in color principles, but ultimately be about you.

Let There be (Natural) Light

A naturally lit room is powerful!

Natural light boosts productivity, improves mood, and creates a peaceful atmosphere more so than an artificially lit environment.

This may be pulling back window treatments during the day, or strategically adding reflective surfaces like a well-placed mirror. Also make sure furniture placement is not in front of windows.
